Open-Ocean Swimming, the Hardest Part of Triathalon Training

As part of the swimming portion of triathalon training, did you know there are special exercises that can help lower your swim times?

Besides only swimming laps, you can practice strokes and breathing techniques on an exercise bench.

Recommended for your triathalon training are swims in lakes or another large body of water to learn how to site the buoys, or judge distances.

Open-ocean swimming, is considered the hardest part of a triathalon training. According to Karen Ghiren, of Wellness Works, who says open ocean swims can be a frightening experience to those used to pools.

Triathalon Training for Beginners

For beginners looking for triathalon training tips, I came across an article on www.Netfit.co.uk

I always thought you should train all three sports at the same time, but as the article states, it’s better to break up the training for better results.

Also it helps with recovery and staying injury free in your triathalon training.

Here’s how www.netfit.co.uk breaks it down:

“By breaking up the triathlon into its three key sports (swimming / cycling / running), will enable you to train harder and wiser than if you were to concentrate on just one of the above. By training in multi sports you will develop both all round muscle toning and high levels of CV (cardio vascular - heart and lung capabilities).

This is achieved by breaking down training sessions to enable you to have a good workout, but not to be training over tired or sore muscles, as this will simple result in injury and poor performance.

Once you have decided to take part in a triathlon, the first thing you will need to do after you start your triathalon training, is enter a suitable race, this will help motivate you, and give yourself a goal to aim for. Magazines such as Triathlete and 220 will have a number of different races for you to choose from, giving you what you will feel to be enough time to train for your big day.”
